The Verses

About The Verses:

Ella Hooper is an Australian rock music singer-songwriter. Ella was the lead singer of Killing Heidi which she has fronted with her older brother Jesse Hooper. The band was formed in 1996 at the age of 13. Their biggest hits were "Mascara" (ARIA #1, 30 January 2000), "Live Without It" (ARIA #5, 23 April 2000) and "Weir" (ARIA #6, 19 December 1999).

Killing Heidi have been on hiatus since 2006, but Ella and Jesse’s new project The Verses have been keeping them busy since then.

The Versus draws from their experience as seasoned performers, and represents a return to their song writing roots. Drawing inspiration from such classic singers/bands as Neil Young, The Pretenders and Fleetwood Mac, the pair have also drawn on some of their new favorite artists including Ryan Adams, Ray Lamontagne, Midlake and Calexico to shape their new sound. Their new collection of songs displays a continued growth and evolution that belies how young these two already established artists really are. With much anticipation they are again ready to capture the ears of music lovers everywhere with their unique songs of young life, love, and love lost.

The Verses will be recording & releasing their debut album later this year
